Fontana stretches north-to-south across the western San Bernardino Valley, from the flats along the 10 up into the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. It is one of the larger Inland Empire cities by population and one of the more geographically varied, with older neighborhoods around the historic Sierra Avenue corridor, large industrial and logistics areas in the south near the rail lines, and newer hillside subdivisions in the north. San Bernardino Valley College and Chaffey College are both within easy driving distance.
