Hacienda Heights is an unincorporated San Gabriel Valley community of roughly 55,000 residents, framed by the 60 freeway to the north and the Puente Hills to the south. Housing runs from established mid-century single-family blocks on the valley floor to substantial hillside estates climbing south into the Puente Hills, with a family-oriented suburban character throughout. The community has one of the largest Buddhist temples in the Western Hemisphere at Hsi Lai Temple, and Hacienda La Puente Unified School District serves the area.

Hacienda La Puente Unified School District serves the community. Los Altos High School and Wilson High School are the two main high schools that draw from Hacienda Heights. Elementary and middle assignments vary by address. Portions of the western edge may fall into adjacent districts.

Amenities and access

Hsi Lai Temple is one of the largest Buddhist temples in the Western Hemisphere and sits on a hillside overlooking the community. The Puente Hills Preserve provides direct trail access from multiple neighborhoods. The 60 freeway crosses the northern edge with direct access west to LA and east to the Inland Empire. Hacienda Golf Club is a private course in the community.
